We hiked out to our little camping spot in the SHNF just north west of Cleveland Tx. this is part of the Winters Bayou trail. we set up a quick camp and cooked some food then packed it up and headed home. figured we'd share it with you. enjoy. Anyone local looking for some trail the Sam Houston National Forest offers a lot, over 90 miles of foot paths hiking only. lots of small bridges 2 real big rod iron bridges both of them are on the winters bayou trail there real awesome. some trials have had the under brush burned but there still fun to hike.
Ive never been to the sam houston national forest but we're thinking about backpacking there this coming fall-winter. I understand you can camp anywhere you want? Also: when there's not a burn ban is it ok to have a campfire anywhere? I noticed there wasn't a fire ring or pit dug. Thanks.

He's talking about the Winters Bayou section of the Lone Star trail. You can plan some loop hikes off of this trail too.

@gruntledpainter
Good hammocking but also nice for tents because it's mostly flat with soft pine needles and no rocks.

love how you accidentally started making the video but it ended up being 10 min long. I'm planning on thru-hiking the trail this winter so great to see. Nice campsite, I bet this place is good for hammocking.
