Jumping contest in 1999 at Little Sahara in Waynoka, Oklahoma. Crash at 0:55 and winning jump at 3:10. The winning jump was somewhere around 150 feet I think and the radar gun at the lip of the jump showed he was leaving the dune around 80 mph. After he landed he walked over to us and his face was all bloody from hitting his helmet on the handlebars when he landed. Listen and you can hear him stall the bike with the back brake while in the air. The best part was, while all the guys with tricked out quads and full racing gear just watched, this guy with a stock looking 250r in jeans, a tshirt, and work boots busted out some huge air!
Holy blast from the past, that's me winning that. I broke the steel swing arm and frame. At least that year I had started wearing a helmet. Awesome. To have enough power (that dune had no lip, pure speed jump) I had to leave in 5th in the throttle the whole way out then pull it back down with the back brakes. I killed it which made the landing a little rough lol. The next time I rode the output gear on the trans exploded through the case half, think it had to do with shock loading lol

@blacksheep10 Thats awesome that you found this video! Have you ever seen any other footage from that day? I posted this video because, after the winning jump the promoters of the contest came over and asked if they could buy a copy of my tape because their camera guy missed it. A guy from our group was somehow connected to the promoters so I told them Id get them a copy through him, but then I never rode with him again and he moved, so I dont think they ever got it for their video!
