I am not Asian so perhaps I don't understand. This is a very intriguing tip but I think mono lids are so ethnic and wonderfully unique to Asian women so if I were Asian I would flaunt them not cover them. Nonetheless the transformation was very cool.

@chinkyflygirl1 depends what kind of Asian you are. My whole family going back 3 generations...not a single monolid among us. We're Cantonese, btw, which tend to look less stereotypically Mongoloid.

@OhValerieMonCherie monolids are ethnic to SOME asians. the prevalence is actually about half and half. Pretty much the entire southern half of China has natural double lids. I'm from hong Kong and whenever I see someone with a monolids I always assume they're from Mainland China, ie: somewhere "up north." Since most people have double lids if they're of Cantonese descent.

@chinkyflygirl1 - Asian women are beautiful and have gorgeous eyes! But, when we smile and take pictures in flash photography, our eyes disappear, so this is just a good trick to avoid that, and not necessarily to change who we are. :-)

Thank you! I spent a good amount of time doing my makeup for a new years eve event and although it looked good in person, when I saw the pictures, my asian eyes virtually "disappeared" in the pictures, especially when I smiled. That was very disappointing! Thanks for this tip.

Some girls can rock the mono-lid look (I can't).

Wow! This is crazy! I think it's so ridiculous that Asian women want "double eye-lids" this badly. I am 100% Asian and think we are beautiful the way we are, you included!
I tried this, it's very obvious and WAY Worst w/ eyeshadow...I even used the same tape you used...I mean it works but is VERY noticeable.

@MakeupTheNerd dont use eyeshadow.. use eyeliner.. and make sure you cut the tape very thin when you put the liner on, put in on top of the end of the tape.. I guess it takes practice because at first it was very uncomfortable for me as well.. but I suggest only at night when you go out it really helps with the smokey look.
