I don't understand libertarianism, is it more right wing or left wing?

It's kind of both, or neither. Fiscal conservatism to the right of Republicans, and socially to the left of liberals.

In other words, we don't care if you smoke crack, but we don't wanna pay for the crack babies you have.

and we really like guns. A lot.

Basically the shortest definition of libertarianism is "get off my property", with "property" being everything: rights, taxes, money, guns, drugs, what people do in their bedroom, etc.

@Dragdamar That is pretty nice of you and all, and knowing who is in the country is reasonable enough for a government, but just simply trusting that they aren't collecting info they shouldn't is a bit of a stretch, especially considering that you just admitted that some of the questions are shit. I don't think other people who do the census are gonna lay it out like you.

@Dragdamar Yes. And as you mention, not all the questions are called for in the Constitution. Basically the only valid questions are those needed to apportion Congressional districts, e.g. : How many people live at this address? Not: What are their races, religions, incomes, how many toilets or TVs they own, etc.

Remember that it's the so called 'liberals' who are actually the ones standing up for your individual liberties like voting against the patriot act, and NDAA, over the so called small government republicans who claim to love freedom so much.

@Chrisrayholly Actually, the Census is one of the few activities that is actually mandated by the Constitution. You can't properly represent the people if you don't know how many people there are. That said, I disagree with 90% of the questions that are on the Census because those questions have nothing to do with what the purpose of the Census. I've worked the census for the last 20 years and I actually tell people what info they need to provide for the Census and what is crap.

Pure propaganda you say? Ever listen to the Subhumans or MDC? Two bands that are perpetuated by supply and demand, one of which is on Fat wreck chords, and yet both hate capitalism. Now that's some shit, this musics not my cup of tea, but don't piss on it for dumb reasons. Oh, and the census isn't necessary for the government to do what little they constitutionally should.

The majority of citizens I deal with don't care about themselves, or the system they live in. If carrying a gun while you play guitar is controversial to the majority, then we have a long way to go until maturity. You give good example how to stand by what you believe.
