For my Robotics class, we are making an autonomous blimp. Part of it's control will be maintaining an altitude, this prototype demonstrates that functionality. Using an Ultrasonic distance sensor pointed at the floor, the servo vectors the "thrust" to move the balloon back into proper altitude. For the prototype, no thrust motors/propeller are actually on there, and the final design will include lots of lighter materials!
Left right control will be achieved through differential speed control on propellers mounted on each end of that vectoring shaft.
After watching it, I noticed that you can actually hear the ultrasonic sensor do in the video, in reality the sensor it out of our hearing range, but somehow the mic interpreted as those pops you can hear when I point the sensor at the camera.
