Churchill was absolutely right - if England went down, then the rest of the world was doomed too - including the US. Where would we Americans have gone to battle Hitler? We would have had no base in England from which to invade the continent. We would have been at the mercy of the U-boats on the Atlantic. Perhaps victory would have been achieved later, but at a much greater cost.

If only our leaders here in America had the same mindset of Churchill--that is, that victory is an absolute MUST.

1:20 Thumbs up if you're watching this in 3940.

@Kampfer1445 'and with the the English monarch the reigning head of state of every nation in the Commonwealth the British empire still remains, albeit in a limited form today, and has not yet ended.' - there are 53 nations in the commonwealth, only 16 are Commonwealth Realms, where the Queen is head of state. She is also not the 'Queen of England' - since 1707 the title has been 'King/Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain' 300 years and people still get it wrong lol....

If the British had not have won the Battle of Britain in 1939, the United Kingdom would have fallen to Nazi rule and a strategic military base for the Allies would have been lost.
Where could the British and Americans bomb Germany from if their homeland had been taken? Australia?!
The British started the crumble of the Nazi Empire, not with their bouncing bombs on all those German damns in the mid-forties, but with this decisive victory.

If Hitler conquered England it would have made Barbarossa unfeasible. Of course, that never stopped Hitler, and the Soviets would have been ready this time (Soviet complacency in '41 was partly due to the belief that Germany would not risk opening another theater in the Soviet Union while it was engaging Britain throughout the Mediterranean). The whole "what-if" scenario is stupid anyway; let's say Hitler crushed the BEF and landed 20 divisions, now let's see him SUPPLY all of them! HAHAHA

@AllanR2D2 Had Hitler prevailed over England I fancy that US and allied forces would have relied more heavily on Africa to attack North into Europe. Meanwhile allied forces in the pacific theatre would have continued with their campaign and once finished a force of US, Chinese, Australians, would have made their way into Russia linking up with American forces who where coming in from Alaska and finally joining the Russians in an offensive. Thats just my opinion.

@MrReykjavik Actually, nobody knows where the war was lost or won ... if you know what i mean ...

Remember, Hitler lost the war on the eastern front. He lost about 80% of his army there. Stalingrad, Kursk etc ..
Don't forget about the Polish, without them we really would have been in the crap.
Respect to the brave poles, who saved our arses in the battle of britain.

I actually did one of these for Poland. Since the majority of the replies were in Polish I have no clue if they liked it or not. I will admit I'd have done it quite differently today.
