Jøttnjøl is a puppetry walkabout act. Two distinct creatures on their way, with enormous backpacks filled with gathered adventures and impressions.

Merkel & Vannix form a street theatre company that defines itself by the emphasis on the visual aspect of street theatre. Their designs are like their performances, an amplification of the customary and habitual, inviting the public to view their own everyday life at a different angle.
Merkel & Vannixs imagery implores upon the techniques of the Commedia dellarte, puppetry and object theatre.
In Jøttnjøl the performers disappear completely, and the communication with the public is only possible through the world of the puppet.

Die Theatergruppe Merkel & Vannix kommt aus den Niederlanden. Jedoch wo Jøttnjøl herkommen, weiß niemand und wohin sie gehen, weiß man auch nicht, aber nun sind sie hier. Ihre Neugier ist unermesslich, ihre Sammelleidenschaft auch. Sie raffen die Düfte und Farben der Welt zusammen und interessieren sich für alles. Auf der Suche nach den ganz persönlichen Schätzen unserer Zeit: eine getrocknete Blume, ein schöner Stein, kleine Kostbarkeiten, für die in unserer Welt kein Platz mehr ist. Jøttnjøl nehmen sich dieser Dinge an, verwahren sie gut und suchen weiter nach Erinnerungen und Abenteuern, genug Platz für ihre Schätze haben sie in den großen Körben auf ihrem Rücken und einen Platz finden diese niedlichen Wesen direkt in den Herzen der Vorbeigänger. Jøttnjøl ist ein Laufakt mit Puppen. Zwei außergewöhnliche Gestalten auf ihrem Weg, Sie hören nie mit dem Sammeln auf, schließlich hat alles einen Wert. Straßentheater mit einer poetischen Stimmung. Hun nieuwsgierigheid is zo onstuitbaar. Zij snuffelen aan het leven, uw leven en verwonderen zich over wat u achterlaat en wat u met u meedraagt.
Wie bewaart zijn schatten nog die hij vroeger aan het strand vergaarde? Wie heeft ze nog; de allereerste knikker, of juist de laatste, een paperclip, een gedroogd bloempje, een gelukssteen, gewone ongewone dingen, persoonlijke schatten waar in een grotemensenleven geen plekje meer voor gevonden kan worden.
Jøttnjøl zorgen graag voor uw en hun schatten, zij hebben plaats genoeg, op zoek naar immer meer struinen zij stad en land af op zoek naar de ultieme ervaring van geborgenheid.

Een figurentheater walkact. Twee aparte wezens op weg met gigantische rugzakken vol verzamelde avonturen in de vorm van herinneringen en ervaringen. Zij blijven verzamelen, immers: alles is van waarde.

Gijs ... ik ben en blijf zwaar onder de indruk van de video's. En deze presentatie is ook nog eens knap in elkaar gezet. Ik hoop het echt eens een keer live te mogen zien.
