Castlevania 3 on the Famicom version! It has uses more soundchannels (thanks to the VRC6 chip)and the difference from the American version is huge! Compare this to the other clip I've uploaded.

  • This is back when Castlevania used to be DARK and GOTHIC.

Just lookit 0:48 ! He's praying at a fucking CROSS in a destroyed Cathedral with thunder cracking left and right ! I love how it had a religious undertone. I love how he's in this destroyed area yet the cross is still a holy sanctuary.

The Belmonts used to seem like Holy Warriors and now they're just what...College Students?

THIS is what Castlevania was meant to be!!

  • @Cyberxion

    I am absolutely correct.

The NES version sounds VASTLY superior, it's not even CLOSE to debatable.

The proof is right in the music, REGARDLESS of ANY technical aspects, those are actually a downgrade and sound AWFUL in comparison.

  • the famicom sound is EPIC compared to the NES version. Man did NES owners get shafted.

  • where can i get the rom?

  • this japanese version of game is just simply legendary.

not only becouse of the moving clouds and the cross simble in both intros, but also very inportant, the music, all thanks the vrc6 chip wich is also responsible for the 3 extra sound channels and it sounds more atmospheric.

only bad thing is it has no help me code and no candle item at the 1st boss ficht.

this eliminates the replay value, also play this on the original famicom and NOT on a av famicom cuzz it sounds NOT richt on the avfamicom!!!

  • @NeoSonicStrike Opinion is yours.

  • @whostolecarlosrox Amen, brother!!

  • @whostolecarlosrox almost all of them fought dracula at their prime (17,18,19) and if your talking about soma he's not a belmont

  • @whostolecarlosrox damn, calm down. i know its nice and nostalgic, it is for me too. but you dont see me going crazy. lol : ) xD

  • the sound on the famicom version sounds almost as good as a sega genesis!

  • @youtoubakias Yes, just google "Akumajo Densetsu rom" and you'll find it. It'll work on most NES emulators.

  • @techstormster Well so far so good. Not breath taking like with the super famicom but real solid. I tried it on my "family game" famiclone. I think it does everything a real famicom does but I'll try it with my real one the following day. I tried the famiclone first because it has composite out puts.
