New York Street Advertising Takeover NYSAT was a guerrilla-style art project organized on April 25th, 2009 by PublicAdCampaign.com. Around 80 artists from all over the world participated. They first whitewashed 120 billboards that operate illegally in New York (the company that runs them, NPA, pays the building owners but doesn't pay the city), they attached to them a fake warning note and then spread their art through the city. Apple ads killed many of the art pieces less than 24 hours later, but it was was great to see some art taking over the city for a day. This is my visual chronicle of the event.
