@qtutoringhelps yes. but japanse are notorious for being dishonest and never saying or doing what they actually mean. Japan goes for harmony or going with the flow.

maybe japanese are on higher level of evolutionary scale!?

i've watched an episode of Quite Interesting and they've talked about something called *paris syndrome* ... should goolge that it's really interesting :P

Well I'm kind of quiet myself so it shouldn't be a huge thing for me not to point out every single negative thing.

...Or when your buddy is listening to music with earbuds/headphones so that outside ambient noise is drowned and he tries to speak to others in a relatively quiet environment... :p

Basics which ought to have been taught/learned in childhood: 1) silence is golden
2) if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all.
I LIKE IT!

being considerate is good but too much is too much. this is why there is distance between couple/friend. instead speak anything that on ur mind 100% is another extreme but that will create society where ppl learn to take criticism and i think that in itself is a good thing. well at least if they learn that before they all kill each other. anyway like Buddha teaching "do thing in moderation" or something like that ^^a

thumbs up for politeness!!! :P

people shouldn't be rude with you and about your videos. i think it is a great service that you provide for free. hundreds of videos about japan and how to behave and how stuff works there. you don't HAVE to do it. you just do it 'cause you like it and you want to help others. i think it's so nice of you. if people are rude, they don't deserve your help. ありがとうございます from canada.
Yeah ! pointing your finger to EVERYTHING is really really useless , i mean what the benefit of doing that ? , it's like if you are on the Highway and using your breaks every 2 minutes !!

There are definite benefits to politeness in Japan, but do you think this goes without negative consequence? What about when someone actually is wrong or mistaken about an issue, or if an issue just needs to be raised, and confrontation/disagreement seems appropriate... Doesn't this emphasis on politeness lead to suppression and/or phoniness? I heard of a Japanese guy who spent the entire winter freezing his ass off in an office because he considering raising the issue with his boss "rude".
