Plot:




Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. @Thatscruffylookinguy The difference (just from what I've heard, I haven't actually read Battle Royale) is that BR doesn't develop into a war story the way THG does. I am thinking that the first HG book is probably similar to BR, but BR is also similar to The Running Man and is not a completely original idea anyway. Basically there is nothing to freak out over like some people are doing.

How I know I love the hunger games:

Reading the hunger games its 9pm, i say i'll read till 9:30 and then I finish the book at 1am and know its worth it

Reading twilight at 9pm, say ill read till 9:30 finish a few pages at 9:05 never went back to it

No I'd not read the books, I only saw the trailer and alarm bells sounded.

There isn't civil war in the book but there is a sequel to Battle Royale the film called Requiem, one of the survivors of the first film establishes a rebellion. Having not read the manga of Battle Royale I couldn't comment on whether that leads to civil war.

Perhaps I will give Hunger Games the benefit of the doubt and see it, though if I do I imagine I'll be watching with a very critical eye.
