Sad, tragic news to read of the passing of Stotsfold. Who died on August 3, 2010 of colic. Stotsfold appeared poised for another run at the 2010 Arlington Million. After back to back wins at Sandown in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes and the Gala Stakes. Sincerest condolences to the owners and connections involved with Stotsfold. A great competitor that will be missed on the track.

Expect a few new faces and some of the same ones in the 2010 Arlington Million. Gio Ponti will likely be back to defend his crown. As will 3rd place finisher Stotsfold. Some of the newcomers will be Godolphin's Allybar who was 3rd in the Dubai World Cup. Summit Surge, who just beat Allybar in the Sky Bet York Stakes. And Prince Khalid Abdullah's fabulous colt, Famous Name. Who's raced 18 times in his career, and has a lifetime record of 18-9-6-2. Having finished in the money in 17 of 18 starts.

I personally think that this may be the toughest field that Gio Ponti has defeated in his career to date. The form of the horses in it, if you examine, really holds up. Gloria De Campeao-won 2010 Dubai World Cup, 2009 Singapore International Cup, 2nd in 2010. Presious Passion-2nd in 09' B.C. Turf, Stotsfold-won 2010 Brigadier Gerard Stakes, and on from there, if you really check the numbers.
