I am a Celtic supporter and regardless of my team, I know Jim was a top player. He reminds me of Robert Prosinecki. Similar style, we as supporters of clubs like Celtic and Rangers should appreciate such player as we have nothing like this today for BOTH teams

JIM BAXTER WAS GREAT, BUT WEE JINKY WAS THE KING OF THEM ALL.

@Redondo thats certainly true ;-)

@MrStruth Fair enough! Pity we haven't got anything close to them now. All the best!!

@Redondo Jock Stein would perhaps have disagreed with you, given the choice of both Henderson and Johnstone, Stein in his time as Scotland manager more often elected to choose the Rangers winger over Jinky, due to his more forward attacking like skill, whereas Jinx would want to beat a player two or three times, Henderson was happy to beat him once.
So many great players though that to choose the absolute best would be impossible.

@PrideRampageUFC I appreciate Baxter and Cooper but neither was as good as Jinky.

@Redondo Why are you even comparing Baxter to Johnstone? One was a defender & one was a winger. If you're going to compare Johnstone to anyone it should be Cooper, both played on the wing & both were brilliant dribblers, which one was better is completely based on opinion. Even though we might support different teams & we might dislike each other supporters/players, we should have appreciation for the kind of player Scotland once produced,.

Great bit of footage there from 2:46 :-)

Quality player, by all accounts, but not even in the same Galaxy as Jinky!
To be honest, and I'm a Celtic fan at heart... Baxter was my kind of player. Every ones going on about Jimmy Johnstone, but from what I've seen he just looked too small to really get away from his man the way Best and Matthews did, fine player though he undoubtedly was. I hope I don't get hatemail from Celtic fans... all one can ever say is what one sees. On the other hand, Baxters tragedy was that bloody broken leg, so Sunderland and Nottingham Forest never saw him really shine.
