@atourdeforce Have you ever seen Sheflin (or anyone) strike a ball like that from the air, in both directions? Where speed and fitness have grown, skills have suffered.

Jimmy Barry, Declan Ryan, Brian Whelehan.... - would not be able to do that with such accuracy and precision. Because some of the skills of hurling have been lost.

@atourdeforce Have a look at this the Christy Ring skills video on youtube: Note the striking of the ball both offensively and defensively in the air that Christy executes near the end of the video - There isn't a player alive today anywhere that could do that - even under conditions as controlled as these. Joe Canning wouldn't come close to getting that much power into and overhead strike, I doubt he'd even connect. Shefflin wouldn't have a hope of doing it. Either would Tommy Walsh.
