During my exchange in Portsmouth, the thing that was most horrible was the common kitchen area of 8 people.. This kitchen is very dirty and I hated it, so I didn't cook in it.. At least not very often.. The hall of residence was in Langstone Student Village, Portsmouth, United Kingdom. There were many warnings given, to make sure people would clean it... However the cleaning part did not occur very often.. Probably once a month or so..
Just to be clear: none of the items in that kitchen belonged to me!!

this is actually quite clean for a student flat, having lived in those halls myself, i've seen farrrrrrr worse!!!!

Close - but no cigar! In the squalor stakes this flat barely makes it to the starting line. Where's the fungus on the walls, the blocked sink, the mouldering food at the back of the fridge, the rotting vegetation in the salad tray? Where are the overflowing ashtrays, the pot noodle mountains and the beer-sprayed wallpaper? Where are the work surface gouges from beer bottle tops?
Students today clearly have it far too soft!

Well the sink was blocked several times, just not that day.. There is moldering food in the fridge.. It is prohibited to smoke.. Hope that answers some of your questions :-)
