The following is a 10-Part series on Maya Beginner Basics. The tutorials are set up in-specific to game environment modeling.

When exporting your objects to game engines it is extremely important to be able to modify pivot points, snap to grid and keep your objects aligned and grid friendly. In this tutorial we cover how to snap to grid, hotkeys for snapping and how to modify pivots.

    It should also be noted that in order to put your Pivot Point BACK to the Center of the object, do the following.

    Select Object > Modify > Center Pivot

    I made this function a hotkey on my shelf for faster access

  • Oh i found out what's equivalent of insert key!;) For all mac users just hold D to move the pivot point yay!

  • help! my objects are still snapping to the grid even though i dont have it turned on. how can i fix this?

  • are you sure its the c key? or is it the v key for snap to points...i think the c key is snap to curve

  • My cube is still snapping even after i un-pressed the Snap-button. I have searched for an option to change it, but i dont know what to do. Can anyone help me?

  • how do you get the pivot point back to the center of the object if needed?
