  • The idea of this video is thoughtful, but why in the world would you tell someone who has never been on the ice before to stand with their knees straight when they first get on the ice? Also, forward stroking wouldn't be the first task, "marching" would be. But before all of that, where is the lesson on proper ways to fall down and get up? Crossovers to a beginner? Yikes. I'm thinking you should speak with a real coach before making an instructional video. She has great personality though

  • I absolutely agree! Cute, personable, good skater but lacks the skills to teach.....for example definitely baby steps first and also explanations about the blade and of course best way to fall and get up, foot positions, arm positions, weight distribution etc., etc.,

  • whats the name of the song?

  • @sgtpecker- my mom is 47 and started skating lessons when she was 41 and can land all of her single jumps except an axel. She has been to Adult Nationals once, so as a 14 year old preliminary level skater i try to encourage anyone, whether they're 7 or 70, to skate. I'm glad that you skate!

Hi There, I got on the ice at the age of 50 (2 years ago) OK, I'm never going to be Jane Torville, but with a couple of lessons from a professional I can skate forward comfortably, do "lemon squeezes", cross over right over left foot and skate backwards. I take my son skating most Sundays during the winter and I at least do not fall over. I'm not brilliant by any standards but it's so enjoyable. Go for it and get some lessons first. Sgt P.

  • easy to say... but I fell on my ass so badly that ..oh poor ice- had to go to hospital because of me :-)))

can one start at age of 50?
