Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth.
I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law— a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.
Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
@stillesgewaesser , oh, and what examples do you have of cruelty in the old testament by Jesus? seems by what I have read Jesus saw sickness, death, and human suffering as an assualt of evil on humans, he gave examples to us of how to deal with it and fight over it. he said " the things i do you can do also" remember that?
Thats a good point and one why i could never see my self be a devote Christain, same with Islam, while both have good and peacefull points they also have not so peacefull parts.
Do you pick and choose? Or is that not following the word of God correctly, so you need to accept the whole Book. In which case i dont agree with it all.
I say take the good of the books as a guide to live life and loving and peacefull and a truely loving God would forgive you!
@jasminesdeath but people get intolerance against gays from the old testament, and they treat it like the law. Jesus taught to love, and I think that he would be astounded at the horrible intolerance occurring in his name. Christians who reject only the parts of the old testament that don't fit into their comfort zone are not following Jesus. What do you think about this?
something to remember here as long as your trying to villianize the Lord, the old testament was love under the LAW, Jesus came as a better covenant and because he gave himself as a sacrifice for us we now live in the age of love under GRACE which nullifys the severity of the law. doesnt's replace it, but christ paid the penality's that it brought by what he did.

@jasminesdeath "Jesus" is equally cruel, and there are many examples of it in the New Testament. Ignoring this is just being, well...ignorant.
