This is my new home simulator setup. I'm using 3x 27" displays, each at 1920x1200, ATI Radeon 5870, TrackIR 5, and the new Logitech G940 flight system. It's a blast!

  • That looks altogether beautiful. So tempted to go eyefinity myself, but it would come at a cost. Is it worth it? It looks worth it xD Also can you recommend a decent monitor?

  • @MajorJonesy Eyefinity can still be a little fidgety with some games. Not all games run smoothly with Eyefinity (the Bethesda games Fallout & Oblivion come to mind). But sim games tend to run just fine with it. I have yet to play any flight or racing sim that doesn't work perfectly with eyefinity. You just need to make sure that you have the video card power to push x3 times as many pixels as usual. As for screens, just try to find some with thin bezels. I wouldn't go beyond 1920x1200 per screen

  • @noderunnermiles I'm running 3 1920x1200 screens, which comes out to 5760x1200 resolution for Eyefinity. That is a lot of pixels. I have very high end hardware, and I can't push most games to their max settings with eyefinity. Forget about using anti-aliasing with eyefinity. If you are used to pushing the graphics settings to the max with your games, eyefinity might not be worth it for you. If you can't afford really high end hardware, I would recommend smaller resolutions per screen (1600x1200)

  • Also, what do you use for a display port connector to output to 3 monitors?

  • Two of the monitors are using DVI, and one is using display port.

  • Great video, thanks.

Is this with one video card, or do you need two?

  • Thanks! When I made the video, it was with only 1 card. I now have 3 cards in my machine, but mixing Eyefinity with Crossfire (Crossfire = using multiple video cards) is a bit of a mess right now. The latest drivers allow you to use 2 cards with Eyefinity, but nothing more than that so far. I have to disable my third card in order to play any game in Eyefinity mode. I'm hoping for future drivers to fix this, because it is badly needed for more intense games.

  • What is the HOTAS controlls ur using?

  • what are you using to span the picture across multiple monitors?

  • Hey there! I am dying to play this in eyefinity, I got 3 screens, 24 inch 1920x1080, but when I put my graphics on FSX on highest, it only stretches the game, it doesn't give my FOV bigger, it's a real pain, how can I solve this?

  • @noderunnermiles Thanks man. Came down to the U2311h in the end, but only 1 for now. Will try for Eyefinity when budget allows and when the tech is a bit more mainstream.

  • sweeeeeet TrackIR is so good

  • Great set up!! Watching these videos (home flight sims) has inspired me to build my own. I have a set up with 3 x 24" monitors with (2) XFX HD 5850 crossfire, and I can't get my screen to look like yours. I've made changes to the CFG file (WideViewAspect = True) but that didn't change anything. How do you get your FSX cockpit view in full screen and look so fluid like? When I tried to do this ( full screen mode) it looks like my face is smashed up against the front windshield.

  • how long until your eyes start to burn
