  • The other thing too is that assuming your game is high quality, you don't really end up making any more money than a sub based model, however it becomes harder to predict your income from month to month. F2P or P2P games might have a million or more users but if only 100,000 make purchases on a regular bases those 100,000 have to support your game. in a sub model every user is supporting your game you might only have 200,000 users this month but your still just as profitable as that f2p.

  • Although I agree with his point that advertising is a bad business model, especially today with really good ad blocking, HOWEVER, Pay to play models have to be implemented very carefully as it can quickly become pay to win which makes it much less fun for the 80% of the playerbase who are willing to put in time but not necessarily more than $10-15 a month on a game. The most successful Pay to play models are models like LoL where most of the income comes from skins etc.

  • In reality, it doesn't tend to work out as optimistic, because the favourite items are often ingame advantages. Publishers know this and go for the money. A few rich players are willing to spend a lot of money - likely more than all the other plauers combined. The usual results? Most players are dissatisfied, and often decide not to pay for such a concept. The game gets wrecked, an insult the creators. A few rich players are happy, but satisfaction needs to be earned, not bought. So, who wins?

  • Have fun with that IRS!

  • I used to play RuneScape, and even though "real world trading" was against the rules, there were companies illegally creating money within the game with macros and selling it on sites like eBay or their own website. When I played it, this game currency priced around $10 per 1,000k (1mill) gold pieces, with probably more than a trillion gold pieces in the game. Even though against the rules, it was a popular practice amongst the players. Lucrative business to be in.

  • @Starbattle64 aesthetics

  • The micro transaction model usually forgets about 1 of the "value" grp's... The ones whom value even playing fields and fair competition... I dont care how few dollars a month it is, if its not fair to to those whom don't spend copious amounts of money, i wont touch it with a 10ft pole.

  • oh, its about game currency... I HATE game currency. You end up paying a LOT MORE for a game then you otherwise would... Its like a ISP with a data caps, vs an unlimited one... All those games turn into pay2win, and they're no fun.

  • Wont work till the average person has the slightest idea about proper digital security.. For example, bitcoin, people were getting hacked/phished/socially engineered and their bit coin wallets stolen.. Could be mitigated via proper security practices, and wallet encryption etc. But the average person knows jack all about that sorta stuff... Most likely use the same insecure password for all accounts.

  • I am under the influence of cannabinoids. This is making a lot of sense. When I watch it, my mind immediately grasps the idea, and I can feel it doing it. I can think the idea into my mind, a step by step process.

In the meantime, I completely missed the point of the video since then. Anything they're saying now is not processed by my mind. This very though was just disassembled in my mind, gone. I can't finish it.
