Lanny Sherwin's "This is Not a Guitar" from his award-winning children's CD, "Meltdown".
LYRICS:
This Is Not a Guitar
(By Lanny Sherwin)
Verse 1: This is not a guitar,
It is a time machine
Where I want to explore,
It always transports me.
I can run with the dinosaurs, fight in the Civil War,
Ride a rocket round the stars,
No matter what you think this is,
This is not a guitar.
Verse 2: This is not a guitar,
It is a magic wand.
Whoever I want to be
I just write a new song.
I could be an elephant, be the President,
Be a cool movie star,
No matter what you think this is,
This is not a guitar.
Bridge: Not just a piece of wood,
It's a piece of me
So misunderstood,
More than it seems to be,
Through Life's ups and downs
It's always hanging 'round
To help me say what I feel in my heart.
Instrumental
Half-Verse: It's been a friend to me
Part of my family,
I can't imagine being apart,
No matter what you think this is,
It may resemble what you think it is,
Oh, OK -- that's what it really is ... but this is some guitar!

This song made me burst out cackling, because it's quite brilliant. The tune is another one of those catchy songs, and the lyrics are really creative. I like what bluecountry100 said - it really is a very unique idea, and definitely puts an entirely different perspective on this instruments and songwriting in general. :)
I once wrote a poem that had a similar idea to this, but it involved dictionaries, not guitars, but everyone has something unique that they get attached to. :D What a fun song!
