@ucrymeariver honestly i think its messed up. they dont step up the notes in the actual complicated parts right, which honestly would have taken just a few moments to straighten out. this is more of a gag, off the cuff, with no sort of attempt to publish this work. theme music at the time was considered the true music industry, they were rebelling against the way a taught musician learns to achieve goals. fair use existed in the 1770s, much less the 1970s. ahahhaha.

@ucrymeariver That's too funny! I bet when Henry first presented it, he was told it was too "Radical" or "Far Out"! LOL Music Industry is so full of bafoons in decision making positions!

@10course Do a lttle more research. This is a Henry Mancini cover from the T.V show. The Blues Brothers were 'Mock Rock'. If not for the fact that Steve Cropper & other Music Heavyweights were in the band, the Blues Brothers would have remained little more than a skit.

For years I didn't know where this came from. Knowing a bit about Emmerson it makes sense to cover Henry Mancini.

I've also seen them do Ho-Down and Fan Fare for the Common Man LIVE Baby! The hair stood up on my arms., excellent. It doesn't get any better.
The original is better, but this is an excellent interpretation. Would love to have heard them do the Doctor Who theme!

The story behind this is that prior to releasing they needed Henry Mancini's permission so they played live for him. When they were finished Mancini had a disgusted look on his face, they thought he was going to refuse them permission to publish it. Henry then told them "that the way I intended it to sound".
