To calculate a restaurant tip, multiply the total bill by .15 to figure out 15 percent of the tab. Add or subtract percentage points based on the quality of service. Use 15 percent as a starting place to gauge a tip amount with advice from an educator in this free video on general education.

  • The waitress in the local diner works just as hard as the waitress in the restaurant that charges 5 times as much for the meal how is it fair that she gets only a fifth as much if you go by a percentage
