OK I would greatly appreciate your help. I just mixed my first verse with some compression and EQ. I stacked the tracks with a duplicate but slightly offset-ted it to make it a fuller sound. Absolutely happy with the first verse but now I can't for the life of me match the second verse to sound close to as good as the first verse. Can I copy the compression and EQ to the second verse or what do I do. Thank you so much for your help.

You use a compressor to even out the dynamic level (in this case, of your voice) "suppesed to" is not a rule, but if you have trouble hearing some words, while others are too loud, then a compressor will help that. Set the comp to where there is no needle (or LED) action happening at the quietest signal, but begins to show activity as the signal gets louder. The LA2A plug in is great for vocals because you dont need to know about attack and release settings.

he didnt mean for you to just leave the EQ set to flat. he was just saying that you should start with the eq flat so you are starting fresh with each track. if you are EQ'ing vocals and not just a speaking track you can follow the advice julzamarripa gave. you can also boost at 10k to add a little air to the mix but just remember you cut frequencies to make things cleaner and sound better. boost to mess with the sound
