  • I'm trying to start a Mars FM network community on Facebook, come by & "Like".

    Search for:

Mars FM 103.1 Los Angeles 1991-1993

  • First track on this mix is called "Oompa" from 1992 when I was known as DJ Spinn of X-Calibur with Brian Scott Ginsberg which was our first track we ever made officially on vinyl on a label called Innercore Records! UK Hardcore styleee....before the Drum N Bass and Breaks Era. I was at Mars FM with Swedish Egil on the show known as "The Mars FM Top 30 Countdown" every Saturday 12noon to 3pm. I believe this mix was done after the closer of Mars FM when I changed my name to Simply Jeff. A tribute.

  • @DJSimplyJeff

So that means you were behind the track: LOVE AMERICAN STYLE!?

My causin and I use to bumb the shit out of that track through the streets of Compton in 1992.

    Some of the best years!!!

  • @DJSimplyJeff

You got to hook me up with this oompa track, cannot find it.

Can get it from Ron D Core?

  • OMG, 103.1 MARS FM ! This was like 1991 or so? (the original Mars FM days). Anyone remember the Saturday Night Mix Show, Live, with Tony Largo, or the All Night Truck Drivers show with Don Bowles? I'd listen to these shows back-to-back every Saturday night til what, 4 AM? Great Music.

  • @YummieLA

Sure do remember the Saturday night mix. I would go back inbetween that and saturday night dance party on Power106 and then catch PowerTools sat 12am in 1992'.

  • Wow, Mars FM, the one in the early 90's with Swedish Eagle in Los Angeles?, I got all into techno because of this station. I just hated the reception, did all kinds of crazy wiring to get it. I'm 35 now and still enjoy techno, the classics that started it for me where Age of Love, Go speed racer, Pac man, Esta si esta no, The house of God, Let the Bass Kick, James Brown is dead, Dildo, You gotta say yes to another excess, Dance your ass off, and a bunch others that I treasure in pc.
