It was remarkable how attentive the kids were to everything their parents were doing, from making beads, bows and arrows, and fire to finding water tubers in the desert.

You can tell just by looking that these people don't hunt and gather full time anymore. Look at the thighs, people habituated to long distance travel have a much leaner (though not frail or skinny) musculature.
