Why are people trashing this 8-ch pre like it is the ultimate piece of crap. This is a budget piece, which is I hope a step up from the ultra cheap but feature rich Behringer ADA-8000. Now I'm going to find out if it is a step up.

@LOGGERHEADSTUDIOS oh shit i didnt even think of that, thanks man makes sense !

@djstevej Because it is currently setup as a pass through interface, so the 1/4's go to a mixer that isn't seen in the video. This setup can either be for recording directly or between the microphones & mixer as a non disruptive live capture so the front of house doesn't kill the video crew for fusing with their mix.

why is he using the 1/4 inch outs at all when he is using adat to cnnect to the interface?

Sucky noisey pre's. Don't waste your money! Save your money and buy a couple of the grace m101's. You'll never regret it.

@harvestsoulfly thank you for your review of a single channel mic pre as compared to an eight channel one. It confuses me that you find this interface to be crap but watched a video regarding it. Still thanks for the comment I guess.

@LOGGERHEADSTUDIOS I was researching the ISA's and ended up here. I do appreciate your video & you did a great job. I had the octopre & wasn't happy with it, obviously. But your right... comparing it to a $600 per channel pre is not really fair.

@harvestsoulfly that's cool. I have an ISA to go with my AKG 414 but nobody ever showed up to record with it so I loaned it to a friend. He says it is awesome but I haven't heard anything he's tracked with it yet but I am sure it is solely based off the specs. Good luck with your endeavors.

@LOGGERHEADSTUDIOS That's good to know. I'm really thinking about purchasing the ISA-430. Which model do you have?
Also, one thing I want to point out about the octopre is... I mostly record acoustic instruments so I had to push the gain really high on them. I think this was one of the main reasons they were so noisey. I believe If I was recording louder instruments they would've resulted in better quality.

@harvestsoulfly first are we talking about the Octopre Dynamic or the other one without the compressors? Second what microphone are you using on what instrument? When I record acoustic guitar we use the EV Cardinal & an AT 4040, but for Mandolin we found the Shure SM57 to be the best but did have to turn up the gain to get it in there.
The ISA ONE is what we have but that is all the information I can give about it since the lazy musicians we bought it to record never came back in so zero result
