@JohnWSurridge one native american heard that someone was building a monument (mount rushmore) and he got together with the man building mount rushmore and he said " let the white man know that the red man also have heroes" so they built this in remeberance to Crazy Horse.

For those who would like to see the Crazy Horse Memorial up close, every June there is a walk up it. In 2009, it is June 6 and 7. I walked it about 10 years ago.
Google [crazy horse walk 2009] for the details.
Get started early in the day to avoid the biggest crowds. They get ten to fifteen thousand walkers over the two days.

Crazy Horse never had a photo of himself. Do you really think for one minute that he would be pleased to have a giant carving of his image on sacred He Sapa? He was against destruction of the land, and died fighting for his land and his people.
