Saturday afternoon bird walk planned in Bloomington

Saturday looks to be a slightly warmer day than weve had in the past week or more, it might be a nice afternoon for a bird walk.

Join the Minnesota River Valley Audubon Chapter at the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge at 4 p.m. Saturday for a bird walk through the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. Bring your binoculars and dress for the weather!

The Richfield City Council is paving the way for its City Hall project.

At its Oct. 13 meeting, the council awarded several contracts for City Hall site preparation work. The project will replace the existing City Hall campus, which includes a police and fire station, with a new facility.

On Tuesday the council approved $105,000 in contracts, for services ranging from relocation of the City Hall monument sign and flagpole to paving and electrical lighting for a temporary parking lot.

Site preparation should begin next week. The council is expected to approve the final plans for the project in November. Bids for the project will be opened in December.

The hassles begin at 10 p.m. Friday night, when the southbound lanes of 35W shut down between Interstate 94 and Highway 62. Yep, its time to for another bridge demolition.
