For a University Assignment last year I was required to produce a "Creative Response" to a Global Issue. The Global Issue I chose was war, and in particular the War in Iraq.
I choose the song "Hero of War" by the fantastic band, Rise Against, as it has always been a very powerful and meaningful song to me.
The video I have created focuses on the two sides of war from a soldier's perspective. The first part of the video draws the viewer's attention to the positive aspect of life as a soldier. This includes getting out and seeing the World, making strong friendships and returning home to family and friends.
The second part of the video provokes an entirely different response from the viewer as it is centred on the dark and disturbing side of a soldier's life. Killing innocent people, watching your colleagues and friends die in front of you and the lingering thought that you may never see your family and friends again.
