This video lesson will cover further analysis of the Mixolydian Mode. The focus of this video will be upon the modal harmony of Mixolydian and how a drone bass note can create a strong backdrop for the Mixolydian sound. Learn the various chords from the video and make a study of the chord names as well. Do your best to create your own chord progression off of the 5th step of any major key, for that "Mixolydian Sound."

  • @simonize251 actually its reverse, the chords are all based off of the scales. All chord formulas are comprised chord tones and intervals of scales. Start with knowing the major scale in your sleep. Then learn chord formulas and how to harmonize a scale. If you can do that you can apply those concepts to any scale

  • LOL When you said "That's a fifth...you know that because of all the power chords you play"...I hung my head in shame

    ;)

  • Very awesome instructional video. Thank you so much. - Tom

  • Dude you are smart ass hell! I can't think that hard when playing though I am trying, but I get hung up easily. I can't make a mixolydian progression in the key of C without it sounding lame and unclever. Can you give me a few tips on how to purposely make a progression using a mode and have it sound cool?? For mixolydian in key of C all I know is to start with a G chord.... then what??

  • Thank you very much for your lessons. I only discovered you this week, and I'm really glad I did!

  • @creativeguitarstudio What in the world do I need to be studying to gain the type of guitar knowledge you have??? Where do I start? Chords? They seem to be the basis off all the modes and scales. If you don't intimately understand chords then all the other stuff won't make much sense. Is that correct?

  • YOU MAH NEXT GUITAR TEECHER!
