I have grown to like the character of Marlo more than Avon... it wasn't always that way, but by the end, Marlo was the guy I was watching. His acting is so understated, he's a silent, frighteningly calm tyrant. Reminds me of the technique Heath Ledger used for Brokeback... so introverted, terse, and contemplative to the point it shows in his physicality. I think the only time I remember Marlo raising his voice was when he was in prison arguing w/ Cheese about Omar.

Marlo represented the new school dont-give-a-fuck youngin's who shoot first and.. Shoot second, no code. Avon was a hustler first, he was the old school version of Marlo. I thought it was brilliant that they showed the contrast like that, you get a sense of how entrenched Baltimore is.
