Hienoa Pogues, hienoa Irlanti. Sääli. ettei enää.....

An American loves the old Pogues. A wake made me think of the Pogues again. Fine Irish soul will go to heaven ... and we will remember his name: Mulligan.

@perkele181 no offence mate but to put Tuomas Holopainen and Shane McGowan in the same sentence is sacrelige. One of them is best known for a very gay cover of a terrible Big Country song and the other is a complete trad punk legend...

May I recommend the book 'A Concise Guide To Eighties Music' by Karl Vorderman. The author is a big fan of this track.

Wot a song....Only in our beloved Eire!

It's not only the lyrics, but the melodies that have been brought straight down from heaven.

Great song....with so many references to places around Carney/Kilbarron where Shane's mother is from and where he spent many summer holidays, his grandaunt was married to a cousin of mine....he sings about "the cross of finnoe"...this is just a mile from my grandmothers house
