This scene was pure poetry. It's as timeless and true as anything written by Eugene O'Neill, Arthur Miller, or Tennessee Williams. "The Wire" should have ended its run with a shelf load of Emmy awards for writing and acting. That it didn't shows just what a mockery the Hollywood awards industry really is.

I understand this completely. When you devote yourself, when your extend yourself so desperately to a cause or some sort of perceived purpose, you lose that purpose. You lose a sense of drive when you can never reach the insurmountable goal that all people, at one point or another, fantasize about. The difference between McNulty and those with a life, is that they don't go searching desperately for the goal; it finds them.

@ruinawish what Freamon is saying is that even if everyone 'gets together and says sh1t he was right all along' you're still in a room with yourself, everything in between, whether you win or not, is what counts.
