http://www.btcv.org Lenka Anstead's film about creating a living willow barrier to help prevent bankside erosion on rivers and lakes. Many thanks Lenka!

BTCV publishes a book on the subject: http://shop.btcv.org.uk/shop/level2/59/stock/956

  • Major flaw in your process of Willow revetment systems is you have no textile or back fill material. This allows the weave to grow thus adding strength to the entire project.Good attempt but only half a job done and failure will ensure.I write with ten years of knowledge in a practical sense carrying out many bio-engineering (green engineering) projects all over the UK sucessfully as well. I once tutored BTCV members, held various workshops, feel free in asking advice.

  • Unfortunately video does not show the whole story. The bank was partly backfilled after filming. In And well do more in October. The local authority specified the work and decided against textile. Willow was coppiced <100m away sustainable! Water erosion here not a huge problem - more from dogs and people access which this helps prevent. BTCV trained local volunteers to maintain and improve this Country Park. Willow now growing.
