I own a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500 2wd stepside truck with a 4.3L vortec V6 158k Miles. About 6 months ago I was looking for an exhaust system to replace the stock one on the truck. After hours and hours on Google and YouTube searching for the best sounding and nicest looking system for the 4.3L I came to this decision. It was a draw between the Cherry Bomb vortex kit or the Gibson. CB always seemed ricey to me and I liked the fact that the Gibson system had 3" pipe all the way thru and a muffler with no packing. The 4" slash cut tips look amazing too. Another advantage is the price. The Gibson system retails for $450 and I got it for half that on Amazon. The deciding feature though was the fact that it is custom built for your model of truck (no cutting or welding required) you are prompted for cab and bed length on their website. The Gibson kit came with detailed instructions and a sticker for the back window. I definitely recommend this system because of the bang for your buck. It sounds and looks great. There is no interior resonance or drone on the highway. If your looking for somthing louder I suggest running a Flowmaster Outlaw and dumping it under the bed. That will get you nice sound but will not have the look of pipes out the back. It will give you a drone in the cab though (which some people like). This is the same system for the 4.8 and 5.3 V8's for this style of truck. I hope that this bit of information i've displayed has helped a 4.3L Vortec owner make their decision. I sure would have liked a video like this when I was shopping around. Videos on the OUTLAW are coming so stay tuned. Once again I pologize for the Wind and the balljoints if your a dodge fan. If anyone has questions please leave a comment below and I will reply.

  • what size clamps did you use?

  • @rimares79 3" clamp for the flange pipe to muffler, than 4, 2'' clamps for the pipes after the muffler. the chrome tips have their own built in clamp. all the clamps were supplied with the kit for my truck from gibson. thanks for watching.

  • Stupid Question But Do You Ever Race Your Truck ?

    Is It Quick ?

  • @roman13w It is very quick for a fullsize v6 truck. I have street raced alot of vehicles and this truck holds its own. The stepside bed makes it very light in the rear. I've got nothing but good things to say about the 4.3L it does what I need it to.one of these days i'll do a 0-top speed video. Thanks for watching!

  • @EricTehRedneck That's Exactly What I Wanted To Hear Sir (:

My Perants Bought Me This Truck For My 16th Birthday And I COmpletely Love It..But People At School be Hating Because It's "Slow" I Never Raced It Or Anything So I Just Wanted To Ask You.

I See You Love Your Truck Just As Much As I Love Mine.

  • @roman13w yeah same here I got the truck when I turned 16. I noticed a pretty big increase in performance after I added the K&N intake system and the straight piped exhaust. The only thing I would add to mine is a tune and maybe headers, but that's out of my price range. 4.3's take well to bolt on performance parts

  • @colehunter10 i bought the stereo at best buy, and I also bought the wiring harness for the truck there too. it was very simple to do just splice the wiring harness for the new stereo with the wiring harness that you buy separate that fits the truck pin connector and mine went in in an hour or 2.

  • @EricTehRedneck

Where did u get the kit to put the stereo in?

  • @EricTehRedneck im in between exhaust systems right now for my 94 blazer CPI 43

im trying to find a chambered muffler that is just a low rumble at every rpm thats not a flowmaster.

FM prices are far to high im looking at thrush now their welded muffler is supposed to sound really good with no rasp.

  • @kreigsmann wow that is really cool man my stock system is sitting up in my attic lol. I do have a different setup now though, running a dumped flowmaster outlaw
