The thing you really notice about Toronto's new subways is how bright and open they feel. They're also brimming with new maps, new accessibility and security features.
The open gangways make the biggest difference. You can walk clear to the end of the Rockets because their six cars are connected like an articulated bus or streetcar.
Not only do they accommodate up to 10 per cent more riders — 66 seated and 199 standing — but the view of the entire train means people will spread out.
Commuters won't get to ride the first new trains until at least June 2011, and possibly later this summer.

we're still way behind both calgary and vancouver when it comes to quality of transit. I was just on this new train the other night and it was fithy with litter already. smh.
