When I worked at a Christian youth camp back in 1984, we performed the Kids Praise 3 & 4 musicals during the summer for the campers so I do have good memories of Psalty.
Now if only TBN would air all episodes of Colby's Clubhouse or at least explain why this (and about 5 others) are not included in the normal program rotation.

Between the two characters, Psalty was the better known.
In general, it is thought that this episode marked a "passing of the torch".
The Psalty character faded from the scene while Colby moved into the forefront with "Colby's Clubhouse" which ran from 1995 to 2000 (and is still shown in reruns on the "Smile of a Child" network.
The nice thing is that both Ernie Rettino and Peter Jacobs still offer products, tied to their respective characters, for sale on the Internet!
