I think he was from Chicago. I heard him in the early '70's & he blew everyone away. There was an even better clip that was on youtube but was taken off for estate reasons.

Matt appeared at the Legion in Fargo, ND in the early 70's with Bobby & Doris Buster.

My 9-year-old son and I were sitting next to Matt Guitar Murphy on a plane from Miami to New York last month. He told us he was in the movie "Blues Brothers", but I didn't know until I googled him, that he was so well known. He is a really nice guy.

I saw Matt playing at Winterland in S.F. when he was in the James Cotton Band. I got to see them a few times, that Band was Bad Ass and always blew the roof off.
