This elevator is perhaps one of the most amazing Hydraulic elevators I have ever ridden. This elevator has a two stage piston pump hence the chugging noise and bouncy ride. Installed in 1958 Dover had already acquired Rotary elevator who installed this elevator so this could be classified as a general/rotary/dover elevator. This was an amazing find and if Streetcar1743 had not told me about this, I would have never known that this Doctor's office building I have driven by for years had this beautiful unmodernized gem from 1958 ALSO the motor on this thing is incredible. It sounds unlike anything I have ever heard before and going up is very bouncy, feels and sounds almost like some type of piston pump similar to an air compressor. I rode another Rotary Hydraulic elevator from 1952 (pre dover) and it had a motor that behaved and sounded exactly the same as this one.

  • Going up, it sounds like a train chugging.

  • @gluse yeah, I am wondering if it is a piston pump as going up it bounces in time with that "chugging" sound.

  • Now here is a historical fact about this building. This was where I had my physical check-ups from birth to about 1983.
