Regarding: "Complaints filed against City staff by Donald Barber at the Council Meeting of March 26, 2008")

To: Mississauga Council

Madam Mayor, Councillors,

I'm writing in response to Freedom of Information (FOI's) results (128 pages) that I picked up from the City Clerk's office last week. This packet, plus insights gained from dozens of other FOI's that I've filed since February 2007 has prompted me to write in support of Donald Barber. (Please see Corporate Report, May 15 2008, "Complaints filed against City staff by Donald Barber at the Council Meeting of March 26, 2008")

From the report -- page R-46:

"He further notes there is a possibility the City destroyed evidence and that this aspect also forms part of his complaint against the City."

My own Freedom of Information results, plus extensive research, have forced me to ponder that same "possibility".

Please be advised that since January 2007, I have been researching Mississauga's compliance with the Province's "Guidelines for Using Video Surveillance Cameras in Public Places" and have documented that also.

The Corporate Report states that:

"Mr. Barber claims that the City lacks a complaints system to deal with the public's complaints about City Security as well as the lack of record keeping by City Security to ensure quality and accountability to Mississauga's taxpayers."

I support Mr. Barber's "claim".

As a result, please be advised that I too will be filing complaints against Mississauga staff at some future date ("future" because, as you know, investigations conducted via Freedom of Information takes a citizen a very long time...)

Plus, I will be lodging a complaint to the Ontario Information and Privacy Commissioner regarding Mississauga's video surveillance practices ("Guidelines for Using Video Surveillance Cameras in Public Places.")

@MISSISSAUGAWATCH No in fact I did not find my statement to be funny , but it does have that quality to it if read a certain way. I do know allot about the new world big brother syndrome and it is just getting worse, never the less I was just offering a solution.

The beauty of the solution you suggested --that we all wear burkas, is that it's both amusing *and* a solution! And imagine adding a pair of dark sunglasses as well!

Then again, I bet the technology is out there to identify you by the way your comportment/mannerisms...
