Join Host Larry Elliott on a short trip through the Mark Twin Museum in Virginia City, Nevada. Mark Twain only resided in Virginia City for a couple of years but they were certainly colorful ones during which he wrote for The Territorial Enterprise Newspaper. Written, directed, photographed and edited by Soso R. Whaley. The Mark Twain Museum is located on C Street in Virginia City, NV.

  • i actully got a picture of a apparition at the museum

  • me and mii aunt went to VC when i visited her and it was hella creepy b ut we also got to go ride in stage coachh wich was okay but very short ride so (not recommended)

  • Nice video. VC looks like a fun place to visit, it's rich in history. I think that'll be my next vacation spot. I remember reading a story about a 19th century VC woman that was famous in the area for being a phrophetess of sorts. She used her gift to locate silver rich ore and she became very wealthy and built a mansion not to far from VC. Can't remember her name though. Anyway, later she went broke. I wonder if she had foreseen that too?

  • Hi, "thediegs." I'm a former VC resident myself. I used to scrape out a "living" (at least in the summertime) as a Virginia City Outlaw, acting in Lee and Eddie McKechnie's gunfight show. Haven't been in VC for about 4 years now -- but plan a prolonged visit this summer!

  • I work at the Territorial Enterprise building in Virginia City. Sam Clemens worked in what is now the basement of the building. It is dated to 1860. Sam worked there from Aug 1862 to May 1864. The two story victorian building where most of this video was filmed, was built after the fire of 1875. Sam took the pen name Mark Twain while he was a reporter for the Enterprise. The letter signed Mark Twain was written on Dec 31, 1863 and was about the holiday goings on in Carson City.

  • This is embarrassingly inaccurate.

  • Contrary to the video's commentary, Mark Twain wrote the jumping frog story in California, not in Virginia City. He heard the story in a Calaveras County, Calif., mining camp after he left Nevada.

  • Most of the commentary is rubbish. Mark Twain never set foot in that building, which was erected after he left Virginia City.

  • I am a Docent in VC and love the Mark twain things there... I think he still walks the town at night!

    Great Video

  • Ever hear of Quarry farm, Elmira NY? Didn't he write Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn in a glass study in the woods there?
