@irish89055 I've probably had over 2000 bookings over the years and was never used in around 10% with another 10% being out of recognizable camera range and another 40% ending up on the cutting room floor...lol. From my experience I estimate that for every minute making it into a theatre, 30 to 60 minutes were actually shot depending on the budget.

@ralphm2000 I haven't gone on IMDB to search this great film, but I assume it was all filmed in Calif. We had Spielburg here in RIchmond a couple months ago to film his new movie on Lincoln. They had extra calls on TV. I enjoy accuracy in film making but think the directors often overuse supernumeraries in some films and esp on TV.. I get enjoyment watching them parade in the background and sometimes the set is busier than grand central terminal... I liked your "The Apartment" clip too..

@irish89055 Yep. I was one of the rubes. lol. We worked this set for about a week and us rubes had to keep walking endlessly around. But it was tons of fun. I also worked in the Quaker meeting scene but was in the row next to the entrance and never got a recognizable camera shot. We worked that area for quite some time. I vaguely recall watching one of the principals wading into a pond or body of water. She was freezing as it was shot in the early part of the year.

@ralphm2000 thanks for posting and sharing your exp, as this is among the few parts of the wonderful movie now on Youtube. Someone a few years ago had a wonderful montage to the main theme but it was pulled. So, you got to play one of the rubes huh? lol

@ralphm2000 Thanks for sharing, really great to hear something positive about a movie star, today's stars just suck!

BTW. For you old movie/tv buffs. Notice the extra soldier to the right of Gary Cooper in the shooting galery. Recognize him? That's Robert Fuller who became one of the stars in the 'Emergency' TV series. I worked with him constantly since we were both in the same age range. No one thought that he would break out of the extra ranks.... lol. Kudos to Bob Fuller on his success.

@staclynn72 Yes, it was. Although I can only be seen in the carnival scene, I worked in the prayer meeting also. One thing I remember clearly is the sense of peace that prevailed whenever Gary Cooper was on the set.
He was so laid back with every move he made and word he spoke that it just relaxed everyone. Even the ADs were not shouting as loud as usual. lol.
My absolute FAVORITE movie!!!

@marypoppins2009 And one of my favorite bookings also. I think only The Student Prince was more interesting and fun to work on.
