  • God... this playing is bloody awful. So mechanized and totally without color, dynamic, surprise, or expressive affect. The instrument on the other hand is exceedingly interesting for it's unusually rich and nutty-flavored fundamental with a full moon starry sky of rich overtones second to none. Interesting post. Do you have anything on an original Mietke?

  • @VelikyUstyug1 yes,van asperen on mietke!

  • Following an academic career divided between UC Berkeley and Europe, Curtis now devotes his time to performing dramatic music from Monteverdi to Mozart. As a student in the 1950s he was the first modern harpsichordist to address the problem of Louis Couperin's unmeasured preludes for harpsichord and subsequently recreated operas by composers such as Monteverdi and Rameau using period instruments and authentic choreography.

Molto Bello!!! Thank you for sharing this video.

  • Curtis founded the European ensemble Il Complesso Barocco.

  • @VelikyUstyug1 do you ever understand what a harpsichord is? it's not apiano and it can't produce a variety of color. Have you ever played a harspchord before? if not then stop acting like a moron. Your comment is so retarded. It's a beautiful instrument played with perfection

  • @TheGravicembalo2 I found Asperen on the Mietke just shortly after commenting here earlier. The playing is much better than this and the Mietke clavecin is simply fantastic in it's highly original synthesis of dry earthy sounds and shiny varnished moonlight evanescences.
