I am pretty sure Chris Ledoux's version came out in 1981 so this is not the original, Look up the album Used to want to be a cowboy I beleive that was done in 1981 making chris the 1st one to sing it

I like both versions... but have to say I do like ledoux's best.. it's just a little more intense. and I LOVE Porter!! :) ... grew up on this music and wish we had more singers like him
