@Bluelunes The slugs themselves are rifled. If you are shooting a shotgun barrel you would use rifled slugs in it. If you are shooting a rifled slug barrel, then you would use a sabot slug which is not rifled. Oddly the sabot slugs are usually a lot more expensive (to go with your expensive rifled barrel). The rifled barrel gives you an advantage at longer ranges, but here in Tennessee we rarely get a shot at a deer that is more than 100 yards so why bother with the rifled barrel?

@paintch3ck Rifled slugs are designed for smoothbore barrels, non-rifled sabot slugs are designed for rifled barrels.

@Bluelunes thats it save yourself $200-300 on the rifled barrel and buy some ammo to practice....I laugh all the time at these guys buying "slug barrels". Watch hickok45 video with the Mossberg with only a front sight slam the gong......smooth bore. Not to mention 18 1/2" barrel length!
