Let's dance Charanga @ Julia de Burgos Cultural Center! Charanga America with Jorge Maldonado on vocals,Tommy on violin & the rest of the Charangeros,well you just had to _DANCE CHARANGA! The Charanga can be traced back to France of the 1780's,but the evolution of what Charanga is today started in Cuba with pianist & composer Antonio Maria Romeu who in the early 1900's had a band named Charanga!!

I know those are the New York City Cuban Band. The use to play at a Cuban Club called "CASA BLANCA back doing the 80's a very popular Cuban Night Club in Manhattan.

@bronx7542 WOW Casa Blanca off Broadway & 72nd St.....I remember dancing to Machito, La Broadway & many more.....Yeah great times.....no stage there you could greet the musicians like they were playing in your living room.......a GEM of a Dance Club, truly a GEM.....thanks for the visit & the momories my friend

I was stationed in new jersey when i first heard charanga america 25 years ago. They were on a public radio station broadcast. I didnt see any of their albums in the local music shop, though. Sometime later, i was transferred to korea, and was just checking out one of the local music stores. And sure enough there was an illegal copy of some of Charanga America's music. And now twenty five years later i actually see the group whose music i loved so much all those years ago.
