MICHAEL FURDYK: TakingITGlobal

MICHAEL FURDYK harnessed the power of the internet and rallied young people around the globe by creating an online social network with TakingITGlobal.  The organization aims to raise awareness of global issues by promoting discussion and the exchange of ideas - and encouraging young people to get involved in issues that affect their communities.  The network has more than 250,000 active members operating in 12 languages from over 260 countries around the world and the word continues to spread. TakingITGlobal also has an applied program for schools, through which lesson plans and resources are made available to teachers to support them as they develop new ways of using technology for positive change.
