This year I was very lucky to receive an invite to fly as a passenger in the Royal Aero Club's Battle of Britain commemoration flight. I was asked by Keith Lindbeck who owns a Mooney. So on Saturday the 15th I got out of bed at 4.45am and headed for Jandakot. After a briefing at about 5.15 we prepped the plane for take off around 6am. From there 9 groups of planes, some in tight formation and some in loose formation (like our group) flew out to the coast, up the Swan River to the city, back out to the coast, down to Fremantle and then back to the airport. The flight was fantastic and made getting up so early well worth it. As we flew towards the city the sun was rising and casting a golden morning light on everything we saw. Spectacular. We were very lucky with the weather - a clear morning that later clouded over. Unfortunately my video came out a bit shaky and the camera had trouble with the low light conditions, but there's plenty to give you and idea of what the flight was like.
