wanting to form a deathmetal band incorporating many different instruments and percussions. djambe, different gongs (not so much the "gosh" kind) and so on. been playing for about 2 years now (mostly drum circles) but I want to break some habits and learn the fundamentals and so on... thanks for the vid!

Thank you. I am new to Djembe drumming but I play guitar. It is nice to see you break it down into useable theory, most of the videos I have seen are " someone jamming and then they say, play that " that is not a lesson. the beat broken down, is:
Btt Btt Btt ttt Sttt
B = Bass
t = touch
S = slap / closed harmonic tone
there are 3x3 + 4 beats, 16 in all.
can also be counted as 1ena 2en 3ena 4ena (also 16)
